The Maritime Employers Association continues to modernize, updating its computerized dispatch system to enable port employees to take their assignments via a mobile application.
The MEA was already the first in America to equip itself with a computerized system for daily dispatch operations, but this system is now almost 30 years old, and technology has come a long way since then! Today, the MEA is banking on an application that will take care of employee profiles from recruitment to retirement.
Did you know that daily dispatch has to deal with several hundred rules specific to each of the 3 unions representing nearly 1,900 port employees in the ports of Montréal, Contrecoeur, Trois-Rivières and Bécancour? What’s more, all port employees find out about their assignments at 6pm for the following day, so we needed a robust platform that can cope with heavy punctual traffic. We’re working to make this new application efficient and effective by offering all the documentation employees need, the various forms and the possibility of receiving notifications when the assignment is ready.
