The National Maritime Group represents more than 100 private companies in the maritime sector that transport freight valued at more than $790 million every day. MEA members and other employers’ associations in our industry play a key role in ensuring that essential imported products reach Canadians and that crucial Canadian exports are routed around the world.
At the official launch in November 2022, National Maritime Group co-executive directors Rob MacKay-Dunn and Isabelle Pelletier met with several decision makers, partners and stakeholders. The goal was to underscore the maritime industry private sector’s contribution to Canada’s export objectives and its significance as a source of employment and economic strength in Canadian communities. Furthermore, the results of a study on the economic impacts of our members were released. This study confirmed that Group members annually contribute $4.3 billion to the national GDP and create more than 213,000 jobs in Canadian ports.
